Gomba District Enhances Road Infrastructure Through Strategic Oversight

In August and September 2025, the Gomba District Roads Committee conducted a field visit and held a meeting in Mpenja Subcounty, Gomba East Constituency. and Kyayi Gomba West, The session brought together key stakeholders, including Hon. Rwakojo Robina Gureme, Member of Parliament for Gomba West; Hon. Ssaazi Godfrey, Member of Parliament for Gomba East; Mr. Kiviri Godfrey, Chairperson LC5; Mr. Mutyaba Herbert Kaggwa, Secretary District Roads Committee; Mr. Katande Ronald, Resident District Commissioner; and other sub-county stakeholders and technical team members.

Hon. Rwakojo Robina Gureme, during her speech, expressed gratitude and commended government commitment:
“I would like to appreciate the continuous funding for road maintenance and rehabilitation. Thanks to the President’s commitment to infrastructure development in Gomba,” she said.
“We have witnessed steady progress in our roads sector, and we shall continue to advocate for more investment to ensure that every community is connected.”

Hon. Ssaazi Godfrey, MP for Gomba East, emphasized prioritization and teamwork:
“It’s not just about building roads, but about building quality roads that last. Let’s ensure our supervision is consistent and communities are involved in monitoring so that every coin counts,” he stated.

Mr. Kiviri Godfrey, the District Chairperson, appreciated the central government’s support and stressed technical accuracy:
“We thank the President and the government for supporting the establishment of our district roads unit and the supply of clean water,” he said.
“I encourage our technical team to always make accurate estimates when preparing bills of quantities to minimize costing challenges.”

Mr. Mutyaba Herbert Kaggwa, Secretary of the District Roads Committee, highlighted sustainability and planning:
“Our goal is not just to open roads but to ensure their sustainability. As unanimously agreed, we should focus on fewer but high-quality roads rather than spreading resources thinly across long stretches with poor workmanship.”

Mr. Katande Ronald, the Resident District Commissioner, commended teamwork and community involvement:
“I am pleased with the active supervision being done by the members and the involvement of communities affected by road works. This transparency builds trust and ensures accountability in public service delivery.”
The technical team further recommended engaging with the Ministry of Works to consider funding for newly created administrative units that have not yet received Uganda Roads Fund allocations.
The committee inspected the following roads implemented in Quarter 4 (Q4) of the Financial Year 2024/25 in Gomba East:

Malere–Nsambwe–Kabutaala (11.00 km) — UGX 84 million

Ngomanene–Namatebe (5.00 km) — UGX 38 million

Mpenja–Busolo (11.20 km) — UGX 66 million

Kiriri–Golola–Ngeribalya–Kasasa (12.00 km) — UGX 55 million
Additional activities included the supply of culverts, repair and maintenance of road equipment, and assessments.
The committee also resolved to:

Engage with the Ministry of Works for additional support.

Ensure the commissioning of completed roads.

Install treated signposts on completed roads clearly indicating the funder.

The field visit and meeting underscored the commitment of Gomba District’s leadership to improving road infrastructure in Gomba East Constituency. The collaborative efforts among political leaders, technical teams, and local communities aim to enhance the quality and sustainability of road projects, ensuring better connectivity and socio-economic development.
