Gomba District has conducted an induction exercise for area land committees drawn from all seven sub-counties and two town councils to strengthen their understanding of land laws, regulations and procedures governing land administration.

The induction, held on October 28, 2026, at the Gomba District Headquarters, aimed at equipping the newly nominated committee members with the knowledge required to handle land-related matters in accordance with the law and promote proper land management within their respective communities.

During the exercise, participants were taken through key legal and regulatory frameworks governing land, including the Land Act, land regulations, the Registration of Titles Act, physical planning, the Survey Act, land acquisition, access to roads and the Roads Act.

The training highlighted the importance of understanding these laws as committee members undertake their responsibilities, particularly in addressing land-related concerns and guiding communities on lawful land management practices.

Mulala Ben, representing the LCIII chairpersons, welcomed the committee members and urged them to take the lessons seriously. He cautioned that land matters require vigilance and a clear understanding of the laws, noting that communities continue to face delicate and sensitive land issues.

He encouraged the members to apply the knowledge acquired during the induction in carrying out their duties and to handle land-related concerns responsibly while adhering to the established legal procedures.

Ritah Balaba also welcomed members from the different sub-counties and town councils before taking them through the various laws and regulations relevant to their work. She emphasized the importance of the induction in preparing the committees to understand their responsibilities and perform their duties within the legal framework governing land administration.

She further underscored the need for committee members to appreciate the different laws guiding land matters so that they can better serve their communities and contribute to the proper handling of land-related issues.

The Chief Administrative Officer, Eswilu Donath, congratulated the committee members upon their successful nomination and assumption of office. He commended the responsible department for organizing the induction exercise, describing it as an important step in preparing the members for their responsibilities.

Donath urged the committee members to seek guidance whenever they encounter challenges in the execution of their duties. He called upon technical officers to remain available for consultation and provide the necessary professional guidance to support the committees in carrying out their work.

He also encouraged the members to make effective use of the available technical officers and to ensure that all their activities are conducted within the laws and regulations governing land administration.

The induction is expected to improve the committees’ understanding of land laws and strengthen collaboration between committee members and district technical officers. This will support more informed handling of land matters and promote compliance with established legal procedures across Gomba District.

The district emphasized the importance of continued consultation, adherence to the law and responsible execution of duties as the committees undertake their roles in serving communities across the seven sub-counties and two town councils.
